VIGNOLE AND S.ERASMO

An island of the Central Lagoon that looks like a sandy hump between Lido and S. Erasmo. In ancient days this became a summer resort for the people of Altino, later for those of Venice. With S. Erasmo, Vignole is thought of as the market garden of Venice, noted for its delicious early crops.
