MURANO, BURANO AND TORCELLO

These are the principal islands of the North Lagoon. Murano is a miniature Venice, famous for its glassworks.
We will visit one of these, and watch masters of glassworking in their factory.
We go on to Burano, an island of fishermen and of brightly painted houses. Burano is also famous for its lace, using techniques inspired by the making of fishing nets.
Our trip finishes at Torcello, a timeless spot hidden amongst the typical vegetation of the Lagoon, where not many more than ten people live, preserving the most ancient monument of the Lagoon, the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, Our Lady of the Assumption.
